There are so many benefits to giving yourself a full body scrub. Here are just some of the reasons you should incorporate it into your weekly routine:
- It improves skin tone
- Stimulates circulation
- Improves lymphatic flow
- Helps remove toxins from your body
- Improves skin elasticity
- Keeps skin soft and supple
- Brighten and tighten your skin
- Reduces the appearance of cellulite
- And just makes you feel good!
These reasons are enough for me to use body scrubs in my regular self-care routine. I use a combination of dry body brushing and salt or sugar scrubs, and I like to mix it up.
However, at the moment I am loving my delicious Coffee Body Scrub. It wakes me up in the morning (nothing like an invigorating scrub to get your circulation going) and smells divine!
And this little scrub is so easy to make. You can use coffee grounds that have already been used – either from a coffee pod, plunger or your local café (they will generally give you some if you ask nicely). Or use fresh ground coffee. If you are using pre-used grounds, just dry it out a little on baking paper to remove any excess water.
Here is my super simple recipe that you can make at home.
Coffee Body Scrub
¼ cup Coffee, ground (organic if possible)
¼ cup fine Salt (I use Himalayan)
½ cup Sweet Almond Oil (you can use coconut or any other oil of choice)
2 tsp Honey (I use local, raw honey)
Mix all ingredients together and place in a flip top glass jar. (This amount will make enough for 3-4 body scrubs).
Starting at feet, massage in circular motion all over body, 1-2 times a week. Then wash off in the shower.
Once out of the shower, dry off, then slather yourself in a gorgeous body butter for extra soft skin.
* I do my scrubs in the shower, so it’s easier to clean.
